I. Liberty or Death Reenactment

 

Professional actors in 1770s attire portray nine delegates, including prominent Virginians Richard Henry Lee, Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. Students will witness the democratic process at work through the animated reenactment of the Second Virginia Convention, which culminates in Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death! speech.

  • Cost is $1000 flat for the full nine-member cast
  • Plan for one hour, including photos with the delegates after the performance (optional)

II. Meet Patrick Henry

Join Delegate Patrick Henry inside St. John’s Church where he tells the story of his life. Students will learn about Virginia and Revolutionary War history; life and government in colonial Virginia; and Henry’s contributions to government and the Bill of Rights. They will also witness Henry’s most famous speech 'Give me liberty, or Give me death!' inside the place where it happened.

  • The cost is $300 flat
  • Plan for one hour.  The talk is about 35 minutes, followed by Q&A (optional)

III. Patrick Henry, the Revolution, & Liberty or Death

Our historical interpreter leads a discussion of the events in Virginia that led to the American Revolution and the vigorous debates of the Second Virginia Convention, during which Patrick Henry delivered his famous “Give me liberty or give me death!” speech. Students learn about Virginia Revolutionary War history; life and government in colonial Virginia; and Henry’s life and legacy.

  • Pricing is $7 per K-12 student and $9 per teacher or chaperone for public, private or parochial schools
  • Plan for one hour.  Presentation is about 35 minutes, followed by Q&A (optional)
