WORSHIP AT ST. JOHN'S CHURCH

St. John's Church Worship Ministry

Worship is the foundation for all that we do as a community of faith. We worship Sundays, fall through spring, at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. During the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends) we worship at 10:00 a.m. We celebrate Holy Communion at all Sunday services.

Special seasonal services are held throughout the year, especially during Advent, Lent, and Holy Week. These are announced in the Church bulletin and newsletter, or information may be obtained by calling the Church office at 804-649-7938.

Worship services at St. John’s follow the Book of Common Prayer Rite II with monthly use of Rite I at 8:30am and occasional use of Enriching Our Worship liturgies at both 8:30am and 11:00am.

Lay Readers and Communion Assistants participate in all Sunday services, and our organist and choir participate in the 11:00am service.

St. John's is a place where people of faith have gathered continuously since 1741 to worship the Lord, to be nurtured in their spiritual journeys, and to be equipped for their ministry in daily life.

The parishioners of St. John’s extend a warm welcome to all visitors at our worship services and cordially invite them to join us in the Parish Hall following the service.

We are a people with open minds, open hearts, and open doors.
